Experts Explored This Turkish Lake And Found An Enormous Ancient Artifact Hidden Below The Surface

Beneath the waters of Lake İznik in western Turkey lies a secret that has waited more than a thousand years to be found. Archaeologist Mustafa Şahin had spent years searching the shoreline for traces of the ancient city of Nicaea, but the real discovery turned up in a place few had thought to look. Aerial photographs taken in 2014 revealed a structure resting in shallow water, close enough to the shore to have been overlooked for centuries.
